Welcome! This site is designed for
the students in my honors geometry, pre-calculus and trigonometry classes
at CBHS. By following the links at the left you will find course
introductions, class rules and commentary, examples of grade calculation,
and hints for success, as well as some listings of help links, math links
and a bit of silliness that tours some of my favorite topics. Topics to be
covered in each course are in the course descriptions on the CBHS website.
Please note that assignments will not be
posted on this site and that they can be found in the usual place for
daily posting of homework for CBHS.
I am extremely interested in as many students
being as successful as possible. This implies a good deal of homework
including problems, reading and memorizing. Reading and memorizing are not common
to most students' way of thinking when it comes to mathematics and
homework. I can remember almost to the day when it came to me that there
was much more to math than trying a couple of problems to achieve mastery.
Also, be sure to use your classmates to answer your questions. Note that I
did not say to be sure to borrow your buddy's solution.
I have devised a grading system for each
course. They differ slightly. Each is designed to aid in your success.
Also know that the best time to get help from me is before school in the
mornings on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. If you let me know in advance,
Friday can also work. I have students that I work with regularly on
varying topics, so you may have to wait and it's a good idea to bring something
to work on. Wednesday does not work due to faculty meetings unless you
come very early. I am at school each day at 7:15 am for the purpose of
helping students. Let me know you are coming, so I do not wander off for
too long to check mail or run off copies of tests or worksheets.
Select your goals and start today.
