Welcome to the bewildering, challenging, fascinating world of freshman
English where students will encounter perhaps strange, unfamiliar concepts in grammar as well as
meet Ghoulies and Ghosties and long legged Beasties and things that go bump in
the night in the world of literature:
 |
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!/The jaws that bite, the claws
that catch!/Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun/The frumious Bandersnatch." |
But take heart; have no fear. Don't believe that you are entering the
dark hole of Calcutta where one abandons all hope at the entrance. There is
hope. With hard, consistent work you can hear dads saying at
the end of the freshman year:
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?/Come to my arms my beamish boy!/O
frabjous day! Callooh, Callay!" He chortled in his joy.
