This Year marks the 100th anniversary of the Christian Brothers High School band, the Oldest High School band in America.
The Band Today (found in the 1973 spring concert program)
"The present band numbers some sixty members, many whom begin their music training in their first year at the high school. Individual lessons are given within the school day by Mr. Hale and the performing band meets daily after school for two hour rehearsals. Since 1960, parents of the band members have formed a booster club which sponsors projects to pay band expenses and to promote band interest. The boys themselves develop an intense loyalty to the group and have a professional attitude toward their work. Band officers, for example, literally take charge of the many activities found in all band rooms. The young men are trustworthy and competent. Musicianship, loyalty and leadership-just three of the many traits a century of students have learned through their association with the Christian Brothers High School Band."
