Clarksdale Concert                On Tour        

 

       A Concert of Christmas Music was given at the Goodwyn Auditorium in December of 1949, and another program of concert music was given in February of 1950.  In April the Band was given "Superior" rating by unanimous decision at the Tennessee Band Festival, the first time a Memphis band had achieved such distinction.

In the Marching show this year each band member had a small flashlight attached to thier shoes.  All the lights in the stadium went out, the flashlights were switched on for an impressive effect.

The band moderator was Brother Luke Constantius, now Luke "Connie" Lynch <lynxdl@aol.com>.
Brother Constantius made several band trips with the band, and was much appreciated by the band members.  He had a brother who was Brother Hermes that also taught at CBC.  Brother Hermes went to heaven several years ago.
