On March 21, 1921 the Memphis Appeal writes: "The American League minstrel show tonight promises to be the best amateur production ever seen at the Lyric Theater. Fifty members of the cast have obtained permission to stage a parade in costume through the downtown section today. Prof. Saxby and the band and Mayor Rowlett Paine will lead the parade."
