  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What information is on my high school transcript?  The high school transcript, which may be sent to colleges or other appropriate agencies, shows semester grades and credits, semester and cumulative grade point averages,  and standardized test scores.  In addition, the transcript shows the student's mailing address, date of birth, last four digits of social security number,  and other identifying information.

Note:  Transfer students will have separate transcripts for each high school attended.  All high school transcripts will be sent to colleges upon the student's request.  The formula for calculating the cumulative GPA varies from one college to the other.

How do I send a transcript to a college?   Transcript requests should be submitted to the records clerk in the Counseling Center, preferably one week prior to the desired mailing date.  To be considered "official" a transcript must be sent directly from CBHS to the receiving party.  A fee is charged at orientation to cover the cost of processing transcript requests.  No further fees are required.

How do I apply for the Tennessee Hope Scholarship?  After January 1 of your senior year, you and your parents must file the FAFSA online.  You must have been a resident of Tennessee for at least one year prior to September 1 if applying for the fall term of college or February 1 for the spring or summer term.  To receive the Hope Scholarship, you must be accepted to  a public or private college in Tennessee (two-year or four-year institution).  You must make 21 on the ACT or 980 SAT (Math + Critical Reading) or a 3.0 final cumulative GPA.  Go to www.collegepaystn.com and www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information.  Senior parents are encouraged to attend the Financial Aid Workshop in December of their son's senior year for detailed information about the Hope Scholarship and other financial aid topics.

How do I sign up for Driver 's Education?  Driver's Education classes are provided on the  CBHS campus by Pitner Driving School, Inc.  Instruction consists of thirty hours of classroom and six hours of actual behind-the-wheel driving.  Check the dates on the CBHS calendar for "Driver Education Registration Week" -- usually the last week in October for the fall session and in March for the spring session.  Registration forms are available at 7:30 AM in the Counseling Center the first day of registration week.    Applicants must be at least 15 years old or older either before or during the two-week classroom period of Driver's Education. A learner's permit is not required for enrollment.  The registration form and fee are mailed to Pitner Driving School.  Registration is on a "first come, first served" basis.  The class fills quickly.  Notices will appear in the daily bulletin prior to registration.

Does my Driver's Education grade count in my GPA?  Driver's Education grades do not count in the CBHS GPA, and the credit does not count toward graduation.  However, the grade will appear on your transcript if an official grade report is submitted to the Guidance Secretary.

If I can't attend the Driver's Education classes taught at CBHS, where can I find classes that fit my schedule?  Call 767-4704 or go to www.pitnerdriving.com or contact your counselor for other options.

How do I sign up for a Peer Tutor?  The Peer Tutoring Program is designed primarily for students who are having difficulty mastering a subject.  Students may request a Peer Tutor by filling out a "Peer Tutor Request Form" and putting it in Br. Roman's box in the Counseling Center.  Shortly after the request is submitted Br. Roman will match the student with another student who is proficient in a subject.    Students and their tutors meet before or after school.

How can I make sure that I receive credit for Summer School classes?  Beginning with the summer of 2009 CBHS students with credit deficiencies will be required to attend  summer school at CBHS during the month of June.  Upon return to school in August, these students should see their counselor to verify that summer school grades and credits have been recorded on  their transcripts.

Will the F that I earned at CBHS be removed after I make up the course in summer school?  The F will remain on your transcript, but the summer school grade and credit will also be added to your transcript, thus improving your GPA and credit status.
