STATE CHAMPS! STATE CHAMPS! STATE CHAMPS! On a beautiful but mildly hot day the Brothers completed their season long goal to win the big gold trophy. Stephen Thompson duplicated what Drew Brooks had done the day before and pitched his 2nd complete game with only 1 day's rest. Stephen scattered 8 hits but struck out 5 and only walked 1. Offensively, Drew Martinez (2-4), Blake Forsythe (2-4, 13th HR, 4 rbi's), Blake Allen (1-3, rbi double), and Drew Smith (1-3, 2 rbi double) all led the show.

The Brothers got a little revenge on the Wildcats with an exciting win to start the State Tournament. Earlier in the season BGA had beaten the Wave by an identical score. Today was different in that they made the errors and the Brothers played great defense. Drew Brooks threw a complete game 3 hitter, striking out 7 and walking 4. The offense was led by Blake Forsythe (2-3) and Fallon Maness (2-3).

The Brothers finished off winning the regional tournament by once again pounding the baseball. Drew Smith started on the mound and then got help from Will Robinson, John Horn, Matt Pinkston, and Jeff  Williams to finish off the Eagles. The offense was led by Zac Mitchell (3-3), Blake Forsythe (2-2, 2 rib's), and John Michael Skinner (1-2, 3 rbi's).

On a perfectly beautiful afternoon the Brothers forced a 3rd game against the Eagles by pounding the baseball all over the park. Almost every Brother contributed in some way while being led by Zac Mitchell (2-4), Blake Forsythe (3-4), John Michael Skinner (4-4, 4 rbi's), and Dalton Martinez (2-4, 3 rbi's). Michael Wills stayed undefeated by throwing 6 strong innings of 6 hit ball while striking out 8.

Dropping down to the loser's bracket had little effect on the Brothers as they defeated the Saints. Jumping ahead 6-1 in the 4th, the Wave was cruising until Briarcrest started to make a comeback to tie the game in the 5th. Stephen Thompson came on in relief on the mound and earned the victory. Teh offense was led by Drew Martinez (2-4), Zac Mitchell (2-3), Blake Forsythe (1-3, 2 rbi's, 11th HR), and John Miochael Skinner (2-2, 2 rbi's)

On an immaculate evening, the Brothers fell to the Eagles by not being able to handle the defensive end of the game. Although the Brothers out hit ECS and Drew Brooks pitched well enough, the Wave made 5 defensive errors. The offense was led by Blake Forsythe (3-3, 10th HR) and Fallon Maness (2-3). Brooks threw 4 innings and only gave up 4 hits.

On a magnificient and charming evening, the Brothers escaped with a victory after a wild and crazy game with MUS. After 8 lead changes, 4 different pitchers, 3 homeruns and 3 hours, the Wave finally was able to exhale and go home as the winner. The offense was led by Drew Martinez (3-4), Zac Mitchell (2-3, 2B), Blake Forsythe (2-2, 2 rbi's,9th HR), and Troy Mannino (2-3, 2 HR's, 3 rbi's). The Brothers began the regional tournament on a night that started out hot but cooled down to where everything was all gooooood. Playing solid defense and getting solid pitching, the Brothers got the bats going a little later to secure the victory. Fallen Maness was 2-2 and Zac Mitchell was 3-3 with a 2B, HR, and 5 rbi's. John Michael Skinner earned the pitching victory with 5 2/3 innings of work, giving up just 2 hits and striking out 4.

Wanting to complete the regular season undefeated in region play, the Brothers went to "ballin" at Saints field. Although it took a while, the Wave got the big hit it needed by Blake Allen. With the score tied 4-4 in the 7th, Allen cranked a fast ball over the left field fence for a grand slam. He ended up the night going 2-3 with 4rbi's for the night. John Michael Skinner was also 2-3 and Fallon Maness pitched in 2 rbi's. Drew Brooks, Jeff Williams, and Michael Wills combined their talents on the hill with Wills picking up the victory.

On a terrific "throwback" Friday night, the Brother clinched the # 1 seed for the regional tournament next week. Reaching deep in the storage closet, per a request from the seniors, the Wave pulled out some old gray uniforms from 1992. Although they were a little snug, they did not hinder the Brothers from claiming the victory. Leading the way were Drew Martinez (3-4, 2 doubles), Blake Forsythe (2-2, 2 HRs, 2 rbi's), and John Michael Skinner (2-4, 4 rbi's). Stephen Thompson raised his record to 6-1 with a complete game 6 hitter, walking 1 and striking out 4.

On the first really hot night of the year, the Brothers bats were on fire, but the pitching was a little cool. Finally, in the 5th Jeff Williams came into the game in relief and restored order to a wild and crazy game. The Purple Wave bats were scorching though as just about everyone in the lineup contributed to the victory. Drew Martinez (2 hits, 2 rbi's), Zac Mitchell (2 hits, 3 rbi's), Blake Forsythe (3 hits, 3 rbi's, 5th HR of the year), Blake Allen (2 hits), Dalton Martinez (2 hits), Matt Perry (3 hits, 3 rbi's), and Drew Smith (3 hits, 4 rbi's) all helped the team score a bunch of runs.

The evening was quite delightful although a bit cloudy when the Wave blew past the Owls. Although the bats were not exceptionally hot, we did get several key hits. The fun part was watching the team get loud and rowdy in the dugout and on the bases and watching the Owls get skitish on the mound. 3 balks and 4 pass balls later and the Brothers had the victory. Drew Martinez, Blake Forsythe, and Dalton Martinez all drove in a run. Another unbelievable effort on the mound by Jeff Williams was also a highlight in the game. In his first varsity start, Jeff went the distance  giving up only 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6.

The baseball team traveled to MUS last night to battle the Owls. It was a hard fought region game and the Brothers prevailed.  Losing 1-0, the Wave erupted for 4 runs in the 5th inning on 2 hits and 2 errors to take the lead and hold on for the win. Stephen Thompson was the driving force for the team as he held the Owls hitless through 5 innings and finished with a complete game 4 hitter while striking out 7. At the plate Drew Martinez ( 2 doubles), Dalton Martinez, and Blake Allen were the leaders with 2 hits apiece.

The Brothers went to the diamond with dark clouds all around. Although the possibility of a funnel cloud seemed real, the rain held off, the clouds cleared away and the Brothers took care of business with a relatively easy win over the Mustangs.  Drew Brooks was in command from the start and went the distance throwing a 3 hit gem while striking out 6. Drew Martinez returned from a slight ankle injury to go 3 - 3 with a double. Blake Forsythe drove in 2 runs with a sac fly and a base hit.

It was a heavenly Saturday night and one might say there was some divine intervention in this game. Sophomore Jeff Williams came in relief of John Michael Skinner (blister on his throwing hand) in the top of the 3rd with no one out and men on 1st and 3rd. Jeff got out of the inning and proceeded to no hit the Dragons for 5 innings. The amazing fact is that he only needed 36 pitches to finish them off. The Purple Wave was able to score in the 2nd on an rbi ground out by Matt Perry and a pass ball. In the 5th, Drew Smith reached base on a 2B to left and Dalton Martinez drove him in with a 2 out, 2 strike single up the middle.

On this gorgeous night the Brothers traveled to Houston to take on the Mustangs. It took extra innings for the 2nd straight game to decide the outcome. This time the outcome wasn't as favorable as the Brothers lost a heart breaker. Dalton Martinez (2-4), Blake Forsythe (HR, 3 BB's), Fallon Maness (3-5), and Tyler Watkins (2-5) all did their best to pull the Brothers through at the plate.

On a fantastic day to play 36 holes of golf, the Purple Wave instead traveled to ECS.  It took 13 long innings, but the Brothers battled the whole game to pull out the victory. Great pitching by Drew Brooks (3 2/3 innings), Stephen Thompson (7 1/3 innings), and Michael Wills (2 innings) kept the team in the game and gave the Wave a chance to win. Matt Perry, Fallon Maness, Blake Allen, and Tyler Watkins each had 2 hits. Maness hit the game winner by slashing a double to left in the 13th to score 2.

Drew Smith pitched very well while racking up the win. Drew allowed only 4 hits while striking out 8.

The Brothers bounced back with a win on a cloudy, chilled day. Several of the players said it was too windy to be turkey hunting anyway, so they scratched out a gutsy win against a very good Florida team. Drew Brooks was outstanding and dominating on the hill. In a very efficient outing Drew went the distance while scattering 4 hits and recording the shutout. John Michael Skinner, Fallon Maness, Drew Smith, and Matt Perry each drove in a run.

Game 2 of the USA Classic found the Brothers on the big field at USA stadium on a calm, crisp night against the Wildcats. Bolton came out swinging and after a couple of errors, the Brothers were looking at a 7-0 deficit. The boys fought valiantly and rebounded to get within 1 run with the tying run at 3rd in the  bottom of the 7th, but could not push the run across the plate. Michael Wills was outstanding on the mound in relief to keep the Brothers close enough to attempt a comeback. At the plate Drew Martinez had 3 rbi's on a bases clearing triple, Blake Forsythe pitched in with 2 rbi's,  and Dalton Martinez added 2 hits, with 3 runs scored.
