A very good baseball game!  Sure there were some defensive mistakes, but both teams did not let that get them down and both teams fought hard to score runs.  The Brothers would hit the ball hard and McCallie's defense would knock it down and get an out.  Irwin did his best to keep McCallie's hitters off base, but a few would combine for a couple base hits in an inning and the Purple Wave would make the play or pitch out of it.  With a lead off hit-by-pitch in the top of the 7th, followed by a 'nutty' triple, the Wave would flooded the bases to get several insurance runs.

Scoring early and often was the theme for the day for the Brothers. Hitting the ball hard, getting the timely hit to the perfect location, the Purple Wave put the pressure on MBA to make great plays to get the Brothers out.  Four of the five doubles drove in runs and five of the remaining ten singles racked up RBI's to account for twelve earned runs.  Packer dominated MBA allowing only two hits, no walkes and no runs, opening the door for the offense to give all the run support any pitcher could desire.

Losing the first game, the Brothers had to play a second to find out who would earn the #1 in their Region.  Quickly giving up the one run in their first at bat, the Purple Wave fought back in their next at bat to keep from finding themselves in the same whole they dug just an hour before.  Hitting the ball hard and making things happen on the bases, the Brothers forced the Saints to make some defensive errors, and capitalized on them to put some runs on the board.  Solid pitching would hold the Saints to just two hits for the 2nd through the 6th innings and leave runners stranded at second and third.

Not off to the start he was hoping for, Irwin made the lead off hit the only one he would allow.  The Brother's defense quickly notice this and went to work to ensure the Eagles would get only one more base runner off a walk.  This runner would be retired on the next pitch, getting caught trying to steal second.  The offense would pick up the tempo in the 4th scoring three runs of three hits, two of them for extra bases.  Then again in the 5th, they would tack on two with two hits, one an extra base hit.  Insurance in the 6th came as one run off two hits.  This victory earns the Brothers the right to host their state tournament bracket.

Another game with more mistakes then one likes to see during playoff time, the Brother's bats were better tuned and put the pressure on Harding's defense.  Running the bases well, and having three multiple hit innings, the Purple Wave controlled the game from early on.  Packer struck out 13 of the 27 batters he faced and and seven of the remaining eight outs were ground outs.  With this victory the Brothers earn a state tournament birth.

Perhaps a game the Brothers should not have won, it appears the forces of the game were with the Purple Wave.  The Brother's first error gave FACS a chance they took advantage of to hold onto a three run lead for three innings.  Then back-to-back walks to lead off the fifth would would score as the bats came alive and the Brother's offense would capitalize on several defensive errors.  After sending 14 to the plate, and five hits in the 5th the Purple Wave would take a 6 run lead and be quite thankful for the change in tides.

Building since the Collierville loss, sluggish baseball almost caused the Brothers to lose a game that should not have been close.  Just going through the motions, the Purple Wave quickly found themselves behind.  Since it had been building, the funk was something the players could not shake.  Back to back hits in the 5th, and going from first to third on a hit through the infield put the Brothers in good position. Position that would pay off on an infield error that would leave the hitter on third.  Then a throwing error that got by the catcher would clear the bases and give the Brothers their three runs in one pitch.  Purple Wave talent showed its form in the Brother's pitching keeping Millington from scoring after the first.

Thought the Saints did not score, they did threaten often.  In three separate innings they had runners on second and third with none, or only one out and in the first had a runner on second with no outs.  In these innings, Packer would rise to the challenge of leaving the base runners out there (striking out 11 with only one walk), and the defense would step up and make the plays to ensure the shut out.

The Brother's got a dose of what they have been dishing out.  They came out a bit flat, and the Red Devils took advantage of it early, and often.  When the Brother's would make a mistake, physical or mental, Germantown jumped on it and turned it into a scoring situation.  Being set down in order in the 2nd and 4th, were the only innings the Red Devils were unable to scratch for at least one run.  Usually getting two or more hits an inning, they had plenty or scoring opportunities.  The Purple Wave was only able to put together  one two hit inning, and that was when they scored their sole run.  Matt Packer pitched pretty well, defensive mistakes may have caused him to lose his composure a time or two, otherwise he was pretty solid.

The Brothers came out scoring early and added to it with their second at bat, supporting a good performance of Matt Packer on the hill.  After the early innings, the bats went dead and Jesuit just about set the Brothers down in order.  Breaking their three game streak of double digit hit totals, the Brothers were also held to only one extra base hit.  Though the Purple Wave never gave up, they just could not get the momentum back.

The best day for baseball yet, and the Brothers capitalized on the weather to have a good day.  Phillip Irwin threw four innings of one-hit, one-run (unearned), no-walk ball.  Facing only 15 batters in those four innings.  Another game of 'short outs' and 'long ins' for the Purple Wave had them sending 9 batters to the plate in both the first and fourth innings (6 and 5 in the 2nd & 3rd).  Drew Martinez, Matt Packer and Alan Wright all slapped the ball around for multiple hits on the way to 12 team hits.

Solid pitching kept West Memphis from getting mounting any real offense.  'Short outs' led to 'long ins' keeping the pitchers rested and the Purple Wave bats swinging.  Picking up multiple hits, and back-to-back hits in every inning except the 5th and extra base hits in every inning except the 4th, the Brother's kept warm on a chilly, breezy night with a lot of sprints.  'Executive Assistant' Andy Estes got in a little job, touching the fence, during the bottom of the 5th.  Ten Brothers picked up hits in the game and five of them had doubles.  Brian Rainey, Seth Walker and Grant Box all smacked in multiple RBI's.  Following Clay Roland's start, Drew Brooks and Jason Volpe also got some relief work on the hill and kept the defensive pace to allow the offense to continue their assult.

A night of firsts of many.  A team of Brothers showed up to get the season on the right track.  Banding together to break into double digits for hits, all of the Brother's runs were earned.  Unfortunately, defensive errors led to the oppositions runs all being unearned.  While a power outage cut Dylan Bateman's performance on the hill to only two innings, he faced only 7 batters, striking out two and did not allow a runner past first base.  Though the lights came back on, the Trojans did not think so.  Seth Walker struck out 10 of the 18 batters he faced in 5 innings with only one hit.  For the first time, the Brothers produced three hits in a row that would result in the 3 run 2nd.  Then in the third, Logan Forsythe's triple would be the first extra base hit, immediately followed by Matt Packer's triple.  With back-to-back walks, and a ground out to short, Bryan Rainey was not going to let up, smacking a triple of his own in the 7th.

In a game led by pitching, Cordova struck out 11 of the Brothers 31 hitters, with only 3 walks, while Matt Packer and Phillip Irwin combined to strike out 15 of the 30 Wolves, with only two walks.  A few early inning defensive errors allowed Cordova to take a lead their pitching would not give up.
